Author Bio: Matt Lake Matt Lake regained consciousness in the back of an ambulance with his head strapped down. He was unable to speak, but from the way the paramedics were speaking, he could tell he was somewhere in the northeastern United States. How did he get there from his native England? And why were paramedics giving him oxygen? Only they knew. Matt is a freelance writer and editor at the time, and so he is used to having no idea what is going on. But his next editing project made the whole experience clear. He was given the first draft of Weird NJ (The Book) to edit. After that, the earliest manuscript of Weird U.S. crossed his desk. Suddenly it all made sense. Weirdness was everywhere, especially, he thought, in the state he lived in. Within months, Matt found himself in a disused parking lot near an abandoned factory, where Mark Sceurman and Mark Moran handed him his next assignment: Weird Pennsylvania. A year later came Weird Maryland. Matt's name has appeared in a lot of publications, some of which (like the New York Times) are only marginally weird. There's a whole lot of weirdness in the world, and Matt is making it his aim to find as much of it as possible. |
