Author Bio: Linda Godfrey Linda Godfrey grew up in Milton, Wisconsin, spending the majority of her time doing the same things she does now; reading, writing, making art and reading comics. Of course, she has now added werewolf-hunting to that roster, but it's not a big stretch from when she and her sister used to conduct fairy hunts in a nearby quarry, usually settling for finding their dental remains (small quartz pebbles they called "fairy teeth.") While she earned a degree in art education with further work in library science, and has actually been allowed to teach children in several public schools, she worked as a reporter, columnist, cartoonist and illustrator for a Walworth County newspaper, The Week, for ten years before embarking on her current career as a researcher and author of weird subjects. She continues to create commercial art (represented by Tom Stocki at http://www.artfactoryltd.com) and fine art, and often illustrates her own books, specializing in cut paper collage and forensic drawings of strange creatures from witness descriptions. She lives in rural Elkhorn with her husband, Steven, with whom she has two grown sons who are remarkably tolerant of their mother's weird career. |
Her books are The Poison Widow: A True Story of Sin, Strychnine and Murder (2003). The Beast of Bray Road, Tailing Wisconsin's Werewolf (2003) Weird Wisconsin (co-author, 2005), Hunting the American Werewolf (2006), Weird Michigan (2006), with three more books scheduled to come out in 2007. She maintains three websites: http://www.beastofbrayroad.com, http://www.weirdmichigan.com and http://www.cnb-scene.com |
