Bio: Charlie Carlson
Stuff You'll Probably Regret Knowing About...Charlie Carlson After spending a stint in military school, Charlie Carlson vowed never to join the army. Instead, he wanted to join a circus, but fate had its way and he ended up spending 25 years in the army retiring as a sergeant-major. He then became a peace activist before finally joining a circus. Later, acting on his belief that he is the reincarnation of P.T. Barnum, he operated his own carnival attractions and produced outdoor music events. Since none of his showbiz shenanigans matched his history degree, he decided to write and self-publish a small history booklet about celery farming in Seminole county, Florida. It sold very well and is now in it's 5th printing. Apparently, people like reading about celery. Take note, Charlie Carlson's claim to fame is being the world's only peace activist army sergeant-major who has published a history book about celery while traveling with a circus! Bitten by the writing bug, which is slightly smaller than a roach, he went on to publish a dozen Florida history books. Behind the |

intellectual facade, he was a collector of news articles about strange things and loved hearing personal tales of unexplained encounters. His secret fascination with the world of the weird went back to his Florida Cracker grandmother, a medium and genuine communicator for the dead, who could tell some wild ghost stories. In 1997, Charlie exposed his collection of weirdness in a book titled, Strange Florida, which ultimately sold 10,000 books, far more than any of his history books. He knew in an instant, that not only did people like reading about celery, they liked weird stuff too. He then cranked out a couple of moderately successful paperbacks about weirdness in the sunshine state. |

| In 2001 he contributed Florida stories to the highly successful hardback titled, Weird U.S. which was followed in 2005 by the release of his Weird Florida book. He was also a contributing writer to Weird Hauntings and has | |

published more than 200 magazine and newspaper articles. Now known as Florida's Master of the Weird, Charlie has appeared on hundreds of talk shows aired over more than 2500 radio and television stations across the U.S. and Canada. In 1999, Charlie played Professor Moorehouse in the Curse of the Blair Witch on the Sci-Fi channel and in Blockbuster's video version, Stix and Stones, in addition to roles in a DVD titled Hunt for the Devil and in numerous historical documentaries. He has also produced and written short DVD movies for Blue Heron International Pictures, most notably the film, Henry Blackhart is Dead, released in June 2008. His most recent books include his first novel, Ashley's Shadow and Strange Florida II. Charlie Carlson lives in New Smyrna Beach on Florida's east coast.
